When you think of a sorority, you're probably thinking of a national sorority.

We strive to create an environment supportive of the liberal arts mission of Georgia College. Ideally, because you express an interest in a service organization, a member should, by example, be serving. If cost is important to you, look for a sorority that is affordable and fits your budget. As a member, you will likely need to maintain a certain grade point average as well as engage in social and philanthropic events moving forward. It is okay to not be apart of something that thinks it is…. Most sororities focus on community service or charity work. Alternately, you could ask your recruitment councillor for wardrobe advice!
You can narrow down the list once you have determined which chapters are the best fit for you. If you are someone who is taking on 18 credits while having a part time job working your way through college, chances are that you have little time to devote to even yourself, let alone a sorority. Everyone loves to hate sorority girls because there are so many stereotypes that surround them and yes, some of them are true. That is not to say that all sororities engage in this behavior, but there are sacrifices members have to make to be part of the organization. For example, you may really like the sorority activities, but find that you have little in common with many of the sisters. Do not engage in in any type of demeaning or embarrassing experience as part of the pledging process.
